Penelope Marshmallow Toast — 2026 Tasting
Appearance / Color
Deep amber with mahogany and copper highlights. The whiskey forms slow, moderately thick legs in the glass.
Nose / Aroma / Smell
Toasted marshmallow, brown sugar, vanilla custard and caramel lead immediately. Graham cracker, cookie dough and maple follow, with quieter notes of dark cherry, cocoa and cinnamon.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
Rich caramel and vanilla cream develop into burnt brown sugar, graham cracker and charred marshmallow. Cinnamon, nutmeg and rye spice provide contrast, while toasted oak and a little barrel-strength heat keep the sweetness in check.
Finish
Medium-long to long, carrying milk chocolate, maple syrup, browned marshmallow and baking spice. Sweet oak, black pepper and a slightly drying char remain after the dessert notes fade.
Overview A dessert-forward toasted bourbon whose nickname is largely justified. The strongest pours balance marshmallow, custard and caramel against spice and char; less integrated examples can show youthful oak and ethanol at 110 proof. Marshmallow Toast is a limited Penelope Private Batch built around the influence of a heavily toasted finishing barrel. The current bottle references consistently identify a five-year, 110-proof bourbon finished with Char 3 and Heavy Toast specifications. Earlier bottles carrying the same nickname have appeared with four-year statements, so this is best treated as a bottle-specific private batch rather than a formal annual 2026 release.
